Social Care working on a resource guide for disabled (10/05/2013)

The special commission Disability Regional Assembly, with its president, Thomas Violante Olivares, head, today held a meeting with the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, in his office in the Town Hall, a meeting also attended by the Councillor Social Care, Antonio Calderon.

The mayor pointed out the need for concerted efforts among all levels of government to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and, in this sense, and despite the crisis, the City Council has maintained the Social Action programs. Examples he added Calderon, in the field of disability, we are working on a resource guide that will be essential to coordinate the work of organizations of disabled persons, and expect good results soon.

For his part, the president of the Commission has sought to highlight the support emblematic Pilar Barreiro has always shown towards disabled associations, both Cartagena and the entire region, especially in regard to job reservation for people with disabilities, an issue in which the city of Cartagena is a pioneer and example.

The special commission Disability Regional Assembly of Murcia, created this term to see how it is working and what is being done in each of the centers for the disabled in the region, began two months ago his round of visits, which has gone through Abanilla, Murcia, he eagles, White, Cehegín and Caravaca, touching now the turn of Cartagena, where they have visited and ASTUS ASID, and now will do so in APANDA and Quarries Center, accompanied by Antonio Calderon.
