An archaeological journey through the soul of Cartagena (14/03/2013)

Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, accompanied by the director of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena, Maria Comas, inaugurated this morning the show, Click.

Looking back to the archeology of Cartagena.

In the words of Montero, this show marks the seventieth anniversary of its foundation, whose goal is the retrieval and dissemination of archaeological and cultural heritage of the city.

Meanwhile, the museum's director explained that the Cartagena exhibition comprises over sixty photographs that reflect not only the evolution of archaeological heritage, but also how archeology has influenced the planning of Cartagena. But besides images, attendees will witness a repertoire of old documents, tools and objects, which provide the context for this archaeological walk around town.

Also in the exhibit shows rare photographs as the first excavation in the ancient cathedral, facilitated by Pedro San Martín Moro, who has recently died.

However, the figure will be very present throughout the year.

And, Maria Comas has revealed that there are many activities planned for 2013 that will pay tribute to his career. As an example, the annual edition of the magazine of the Museum, Mastia, will be dedicated to him.

This work not only makes a tour of the archeology of the city, but also shows people in an attempt to demonstrate that exposure also has soul, according Comas.

This exemplified the image starring the poster of the exhibition, which has been loaned by the Royal Academy of History, and dating from 1908, when work started on the Grand Hotel in Cartagena.

The Municipal Archaeological Museum, Enrique Escudero has been responsible for promoting this exhibition, which will remain open until October.

Visiting hours are as follows: Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 until 14.00 and from 17.00 to 20.00 hours, while Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 to 14.00 hours.

THE MUSEUM JOINS THE CELEBRATION "DAY N THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN

On the occasion of International Women's Day, on Friday, March 8, the Municipal Archaeological Museum is scheduled for Saturday March 16 to sing a recital by Manuela and Antonio Carrión Lamb.

The show will start at 20.00 hours and admission is free until all seats.

Manuela Lamb (Rota, Cádiz, 1973) is a singer with linkage and experiences in the provinces of Cadiz, Seville and Huelva.

Currently lives in Alcala del Río (Sevilla).

His arrival on the scene takes place relatively late jondo therefore not occur until 2006.
