Local police surveillance strengthens against truancy (15/02/2013)

Agents Section Judicial Police Victim Protection, in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Municipal Plan Truancy (EPE), have increased their presence in the vicinity of secondary schools, with the aim of preventing and combat truancy.

Among its main activities, more control points near schools at the time of entry, exit and recreation, as well as the monitoring of students in school, are out of their schools, which has resulted in Over the last week, have detected a total of 19 children in that situation.

The work of agents is to monitor cases of absence to class and, in a first intervention, to inform the school to try to resolve it. If this is not possible, involving the Municipal Truancy Plan and the Department of Education, through implementation of the protocols in which each case is studied individually to try to resolve it.

Moreover, the agents perform the detection and monitoring of situations of absence by notifying the families, information on compulsory attendance at schools and the claim of a commitment from them to get away with situation, as it is the responsibility of parents participation and involvement in the education of their children.

With these actions, the local police would establish a process to provide an effective response to the problem of absenteeism and ensure continuity of education in schools.
