Fofó clowns Los Belones triumphed in the Senior Carnival (11/02/2013)

Social Care Council members and Celebrations, Antonio Calderon and Florentina Garcia, respectively, were the emcees on Friday February 8 at the Carnival of our elders.

Also attended the event, the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maroto, Councillor for Health, Ã ngel Nicolas Bernal and Councilman District 6, Isaiah Camarzana.

During his speech, Florentina Garcia acknowledged the efforts of the participants and stressed that the elderly are an example to the young.

For his part, Calderon expressed his satisfaction at the conclusion of which, in his words, is the best act of the Carnival of Cartagena.

More than a thousand people showed up from 17.00 in the Sports Pavilion Jiménez de la Espada Institute, which hosted the gala, which this year has had the participation of over nine troupes from the Cartagena different locations: Las Marinas (La Manga), Friendship (Virgin of Charity), Youth and Joy (La Palma), The Salerosas (Miranda) Los Campesinos (Santa Ana), Life (Marfagones Mills), the cute ( St. Joseph the Worker), Aljorra La Belle (Aljorra) and Black Tulip (The Belones).

The most famous carnival in the world, Rio de Janeiro, landed in Cartagena.

And, to the rhythm of the samba, the men of the troupe of The Aljorra were the first to go on stage, accompanied minutes after by women who dared to dance, I will survive, Gloria Gaynor.

One of its members, Antonia Mendez, who had confessed a decade participating in this holiday season and it's an opportunity to reconnect with friends from other municipalities.

Behind them, the famous clowns jumped Fofó scene hand troupe Los Belones, who at the end of the night took the first prize.

Harlequins, trainers or wizards danced to songs from the legendary TV clowns.

Style Gangnam also sounded by the Japanese of St. Joseph the Worker, the melodies of renowned Disney film, The Jungle Book, with the troupe of Molinos Marfagones who were disguised as Mowgli and bananas.

Candida Cervantes, a member of the latter group, said this year's costumes purchased to save costs.

Pirates, cats, cooks or holsters were other costumes that could be seen in the show last Friday, whose hallmark was fun.

Thus for Dolores Ortiz, one of the chefs de Santa Ana, the important thing was to enjoy with people on the street, which also reaffirms Ignacia, La Palma, who argues that only tested because all they want is to enjoy a while pleasant.

However, one of the most acclaimed of the night was Isabel Garcia of the troupe of The Aljorra, after being named Senior Carnival Queen 2013.

Beside her, Vera Fina Las Salerosas Miranda and Pilar Serrano, La Vida de Molinos Marfagones that were chosen as first and second lady, respectively.

The Piñata Dance was the culmination of a long day of dance and music which also awarded various troupes participating.

After nearly five hours of partying, the Pavilion Jiménez de la Espada was closed already thinking about the next edition in 2014.
