Sport for all abilities at the Games for Integration (16/11/2012)

Repsol Foundation, City of Cartagena and FEDDF have shown more than 400 kids with the difficulties faced by persons with disabilities, through this initiative unfolding today in the forecourt of Puerto

The Repsol Foundation, with the cooperation of the City of Cartagena and the Spanish Federation of Sports for the Physically Disabled, have today launched the Games for Integration, a social awareness initiative which aims to promote integration through sport, emphasizing the importance of the values ​​of the same and equal opportunities.

Thus, by installing sports courts in Port esplanade, more than 400 students from various schools in the municipality, have been practicing throughout the morning until nine specialties adapted, equal to disabled athletes.

This afternoon you can do the same whoever you want, as it is a free event and open to the public until 8 pm.

Wheelchair Basketball, football 5, hockey in wheelchair fencing, skiing, cycling, wheelchair badminton, table tennis and wheelchair boccia, a form, the latter, similar to boules designed exclusively for persons with disabilities, are the sports that can be practiced in these Games for Integration, with the participation of athletes from each.

This initiative, which has already made ​​stops in Tarragona, Madrid and Puertollano, Think about program is part of a project of Repsol Foundation to raise awareness about the difficulties that the group of people with disabilities in their daily lives.

The presentation has benefited from the intervention of the Assistant Director of People and Organisation of Repsol Cartagena, Andres Gonzalez, the deputy director of institutional programs Repsol Foundation, William Gartland, City Council Sports and Social Care, and Antoni Cabezos Jose Calderon, respectively, and badminton player and member of the Sports Foundation Murciana Physically Disabled, Amalia Martinez.
