Red Cross volunteers will attend first aid bike helmet city (21/09/2012)

The unit has 4 Bikes Sociosanitary vehicles and 20 volunteers and aims at quick care incidents that may occur on the street, as well as assistance to elderly and disabled who reside in the center

Spanish Red Cross has launched a new service in Cartagena, a unit of Bikes Sociosanitary designed to address potential accidents that occur on the street, mainly in the town area of the city, applying first aid and minimizing the timeout.

The presentation of this unit today visited the mayor, Pilar Barreiro, President of the Spanish Red Cross Regional Assembly in Cartagena, Gabriel Ruiz, and the director of the company Maintenance and Custodial Archaeological, which has donated vehicles, Carlos Rosique .

This is the first unit of its kind to be launched in the region, as the mayor pointed out, and make up 20 volunteers and four bicycles to patrol downtown streets in two services.

Besides carrying out first aid to those in need, said Pilar Barreiro, also realize the local police of any incidents that occur and assist the elderly and disabled who reside in the center and so require, in addition to participating in preventive parties and marches organized.

The bikes are equipped with a semi-automatic defibrillator and first aid kits for emergency act from mild, such as falls, to more serious emergencies such as cardiac arrest, until the ambulance arrives and make the move to the health center if necessary.
