The University of Murcia begins Monday Scientific Diving courses and Navigation, the oldest of the University of the Sea (31/08/2012)

Between 3 and 20 September will be two of the most veteran of the University of Mar-Campus Mare Nostrum: Scientific Diving courses and art and science of navigation, both to be held in Cartagena.

Patricio Fernando Martin Paz, Director of the Navy Diving and María del Carmen González Castillo, Technical Officer and Underwater Water Activities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia are directors of Scientific Diving course, which, with 29 editions , is the oldest activity between summer courses organized by the University of Murcia.

It aims to introduce students to diving, enabling them to perform dives up to 30 meters deep.

The course includes both theoretical and practical aspects, including topics as applied to diving physiology, first aid, search and rescue theory, applied physics diving or decompression theory.

It also includes practical diving and open water swimming, performing progressively deeper dives.

Art and science of navigation

On the other hand, is celebrating the twentieth edition of the course Art and Science of Navigation, also directed by Patricio Fernando Martín and María del Carmen González, who tries to explain to his students the theoretical and practical aspects of navigation training them at the same time, for recreational craft skipper.

Both courses have a duration of 120 hours, and students who enroll in them will be entitled to a total of 4.5 elective credits or 3 ECTS-CRAU.
