The immigrants get their first job after passing through the SARA project (14/06/2012)

Immigrants without work, some very basic knowledge of Spanish and with little work experience.

That is the profile of women who come each week to the offices of the Red Cross, located on Calle Gisbert, to know how to find employment.

Red Cross, the Women's Institute and collaborating in the program ADLE SARA to provide resources for immigrant women.

This project, which operates nationwide, offers employment counseling, training courses, as well as social skills, motivation, self esteem and male violence.

Right now, the program is still nearly a dozen women.

For here have passed 60 people, says project coordinator in Cartagena, Mari Carmen González: Most do not end because they get to work before.

This is the case of 16 of the 23 people who started the last workshop that SARA has been organized in Cartagena.

Of those, a couple is in France and the rest has been stringing a temporary job to another.

According to project coordinator that it easier to find work are the South Americans, as the language they already know.

But that does not mean the rest do not find work. In addition, and also are encouraged to attend our courses in Spanish, Gonzalez said.

The purpose of this program is to improve the quality of life of immigrant women in their personal and professional facets through individual and group work to allow progress in their employability and participation in social and community life.
