The City Council will expedite payments to vendors (08/11/2011)

The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, today received the new board of the Confederation of Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), who came to the Palace Hall with its president at the head, Pedro Pablo Hernandez, a meeting has a long way and which have focused on topics of interest to the city and especially to the business of it.

The employment situation and the difficulties faced by companies, were issues highlighted by the president of COEC, who claimed that the mayor has announced that the City Council in this regard shall take measures to expedite payment to vendors, which will be tomorrow in Committee Information of Finance.

In addition, today's meeting has also been agreed for implementation of a tripartite, which will sit Hall, and Chamber of Commerce COEC to treat in detail all proposals that serve to reactivate the the entire region economically.

The resolution of the General Plan of Cartagena, the need to continue fighting for the infrastructure (the arrival of the AVE Madrid-Cartagena, the Mediterranean Corridor, the port of Gorguel and opening the new airport) and the creation of a service area logistics in the region following on from the port, are points that coincided Barreiro and Hernandez.

Finally, the president wanted to highlight COEC two sectors that will lead to a turning point for the economy of the city, one is tourism, focusing on the promotion of key city of Cartagena as the region as home port for cruise ships and the other industry since the arrival of new investment to the Valley of tailings will promote the generation of an auxiliary local business major heavy industries.
