UPyD denounces the decline of the Mar Menor and will ask in the plenary, starting with Los Alcazares projects that promote recovery of the lake and its surroundings (23/09/2011)

Many years we live, as spectators, the deterioration of our coastline.

And many years that we are discussing how to stop the destruction of the Mar Menor and its environment, proposing initiatives and changes that were never carried out, creating associations and committees (eg the Mar Menor), which have not helped the development sustainable tourism in our town

Neither the Spatial Plan of the Coast Region of Murcia "of the PP, nor the Programme of Action of Mar Menor Area" in the framework of the Minor Sea Commission convened by the Ministry of Environment (PSOE) have alleviate the conditions and managed to solve the serious problem with the Mar Menor.

UPyD will present this initiative for the defense of the Mar Menor and its environment in the plenary councils of the Mar Menor where you have representation, Los Alcazares and San Pedro del Pinatar, and present in the municipal records and Cartagena San Javier .

The motion will require the Regional Government to include in their budgets an annual amount for the recovery of the coast and to urge the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine to support and boost both coastal restoration projects as Marmenorense recovery projects and protection of marine species.

Text of the motion:

FIRST: The City of Los Alcazares shown their unwavering support as many events occurring in defense of the Mar Menor and its environment.

SECOND: The City of Los Alcazares support with material and human resources (to the extent of its possibilities), initiatives that promote the maintenance and upkeep of both our natural beauty, cultural heritage and seafront area.

THIRD: The City of Los Alcazares urges the Government of the Region to include in their budgets an annual amount for the recovery of the coast and its environment.

FOURTH: The City of Los Alcazares urges the Government of the Region to shore up the pillars of primary education through extracurricular activities aimed at understanding the environment, defense, respect and enjoyment of the lake and its surroundings.

FIFTH: The City of Los Alcazares urges the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine to support and boost both coastal restoration projects as projects Marmenorense recovery and protection of marine species.

Treatment capacity to peak demand.
