The City intensified cleaning of drains before the rainy season (07/09/2011)

The preventative program is held from July 15 to September 15 in 9,500 scuppers, 63 pumping stations and 10,000 meters of collectors, including as a special performance interceptor storm Ronda Union City

Cartagena City Council is working since 15 July until 15 September in the intensive cleaning of the public sewerage system, with special attention to the scuppers flood areas ahead of the rainy season, as Councillor of the area indicated Infrastructure, Francisco Espejo.

Through the concessionaire of the sewer, Aquagest, cleaned and checked a total of 9,500 scuppers (drains) that exist throughout the municipality.

These operations include cleaning, maintenance and monitoring of 970,000 meters of sewers, 10,000 meters of collectors and 63 pumping stations, says Espejo.

Mirror explained that the work will accentuate the face of the September rains, but during the year there is continuous maintenance with cleaning all the major networks available to the city once or twice a year. The cleaning scuppers have been completed in Cartagena Casco, Source Cubas, La Palma and Santa Ana Residential Estate

SEWER SYSTEM

There are 971,000 meters of sewer and storm water running.

Teams have a capacity of 3,500 liters of clean water and 5,500 gallons of dirty water.

Cleaning occurs with water at a pressure of 180 kg/cm2.

PUMPING STATIONS OF SEWAGE

During the period before the rains intensified cleaning and overhaul of the 63 pumping stations existing wastewater, but their maintenance is annual.

Most of them are remotely controlled, so any failure is detected instantly and organize the necessary human and technical resources to solve the problem before it affects the subscriber.

SPECIAL PROTOCOL IN FLOOD
