Residents of Urban Mediterranean Marfagones Mills Corner Sumiedo and promote the nomination of public spaces (02/09/2011)

The City Council has opened the records protocol to devote two-seater and a building to the memory of Francisco García, Carmelo Sanz Cañavate Gomariz and Matthew Soto, who did important work in these three localities

Cartagena City Council has opened a period of public exhibition for one month to nominate three public spaces in Mediterranean Construction, Mills Marfagones and Sumiedo Corner, intended to carry the names of three persons who carried out important work in these three localities, as their neighbors have sought comply with the Regulation of Municipal Honors and Awards.

Construction For the Mediterranean, the process has been requested by the neighborhood association, which has proposed the appointment of a new public square building with the name of Plaza del Maestro Carmelo Sanz Gomariz in recognition and tribute to the schoolmaster much loved and remembered by several generations of students who passed through its halls, their families and neighbors.

Matthew Soto was born in Mills Cañavate Marfagones in 1921, and developed much of his working life in the oil refinery tailings.

In the 70 promoted one of the first housing cooperatives, Virgen de la Soledad de Molinos Marfagones, which served as seed for the urban development of the area, and an example for other towns in the municipality.

His concern for the cultural and social welfare of their neighbors did that for several years was president of: the neighborhood association, and Instructional and Recreational Society La Soledad.

Later, he served as vice president of the Neighborhood Council Municipal Marfagones Mills.

For their good and selfless work for the common good, for the benefit of its people, Matthew Soto Miller received the distinction of the Year.

Finally, the City Neighborhood Council Perín, has requested the appointment of a square in the corner Sumiedo and El Canar, as Francisco Solano García Plaza, in recognition and tribute to this neighbor who was active in the development and prosperity of this area belonging to the Field deputation Nubla.

Francisco Solano Garcia was born on November 17, 1946, in the hamlet of Los Cañavate of Sumiedo Corner, a place which was always linked, although their professional and personal life went to Cartagena, spending the summers at his home in Los Cañavate.

In 1999 he was appointed president of the neighborhood association's Corner Sumiedo, the head of which managed to place the installation of numerous points of street lighting, asphalt access roads to housing and the construction of a new water tank and a new distribution network to avoid the restrictions on supply.

Francisco Solano Garcia died in 2005.

The plaza is proposed next to the shrine of St. James in Corner Sumiedo and actively participated in the creation of the five years he was a reproach to the neighborhood association.
