Clash of Civilizations in The Sea Art (13/07/2011)

A Ferrari running over the Victory of Samothrace, or the God Mars resting on a television camera, are some of the pieces included in "Eros or Barbarism ', exhibited in Hall Autopsy until July 31

A collection of erotic works right, is what takes Eros or Barbarism, the collective exposure of LSC (La Strategia Corporate), formed by artists and Pedregal Alejandro Alberto Cubas.

His work is an extraordinary visual clash between classic and modern, an ironic look at moments of crisis, as the artists themselves have been defined during the presentation this morning at the Pavilion autopsy.

Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, the coordinator of La Mar de Arte Jose Luis Cegarra, and the curator of the exhibition, Nacho Ruiz, accompanied the performers during the opening of the exhibition is included in the program La Mar Art and you can see in this singular space until 31 July.

Six pieces make up the exhibition is a diptych in the circular space of the pavilion: Eros right, left, Barbarism, and in between, the reconciliation between the two embodied the image of Aphrodite, Goddess of Fertility.

The sense of exposure is based on the seminal work of Herbert Marcuse's "Eros and Civilization" and the separation that existed between "civilization and barbarism" in Christian culture.

The contradictions of Western culture, bathed in glory and virtue such as blood and moral corruption, is the idea behind Pedregal and Cubas.

It thereby provides a radical and ironic look to answer a central question: 'How is it possible to integrate the impulses of Eros (barbarism) in the construction of civilization?

Around this idea, rescue artists classics as Bacchanal Titian, or the Rest of Mars, Velazquez, but giving them a modern element to create a visual impact that satirizes the loss of classical culture today.

For example, l Venus leads the bacchanal painted on their hands a remote control, and the God of War, Mars, lies resting on a TV camera.

But the best example of the clash of civilizations is embodied in the image of a Ferrari running over to the Nike of Samothrace, explains Alejandro Pedregal, is an allegory to the affirmation of the Futurist artists who ensured that a race car was more beautiful that one's Winged Victory.

THE WORK
