The local police started a campaign to control the use of helmets (17/06/2011)

In order to reduce the high accident rate among the motorcycles, the General Directorate of Traffic is up, from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 June, or a new awareness campaign and monitoring of motorcycles.

Local Police Cartagena joins the campaign to control and educate citizens about the dangers of reckless actions while driving.

During the next week, the Local Police shall give special attention to helmet use, speeding, having the ITV in order, and overtaking illegally.

Thus, increased traffic police checks, checking and monitoring the movements of the motorcycle and denouncing violations if they observe.

The aim is to reduce accident rates, given that three of every four motorists die of head injuries and the risk of brain damage is multiplied by three if the driver or passenger of the motorcycle does not carry the helmet.

The campaign aims should perform preventive patrol presence within the city mainly because it is where most motorcycle makes movements reckless or develop bad habits such as not using the case, customs that extend below the long road trips with increased risk of accidents.
