The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, this morning attended the opening ceremony multipurpose bulk Pier in the expansion of the tailings Dock.
During his visit has highlighted that these actions are progressive response to increasing numbers of freight traffic in the Port of Cartagena.
Given this reality, the Ministry of Public Works has seen the need to anticipate customers and users through financial contributions in excess of 140 million euros in recent years, the Port Authority to carry out the design and planning of its facilities .
Such investments are allowing such an extension that provides the port docks and berths while surface area and industrial logistics.
In particular, the implementation of the second phase of the project, which began in 2007, has brought nearly 600 meters of mooring line and an area of ​​180,000 square meters for the new multipurpose wharf expansion of solid bulk of the Basin of tailings.
Specifically, Gonzalez Tovar has referred to the financial contribution by the Ministry of Development, which in 2009 was 46 million euros, of which 21.3 million were earmarked for the expansion of the dock and 4.1 to land access to the area.
This number rose to 37 million euros in 2010 and 25.3 million this year to the proceedings in the Bulk Terminal.
For Gonzalez Tovar, these investments in the port and infrastructure carried out by the Government of Spain to Cartagena motorway Alumbres and access to the Dock (15.6 million euros), are a clear expression of commitment one with businesses, workers and residents in the area.
At the same time, the significant industrial investment being made is being supplemented with state investment for both the arrival of raw materials through to the output port of goods by road.
