Fifteen students awarded at the drawing competition grows on Security (05/04/2011)

The winning entries, competing in the regional stage, embody the health risks to which they face at home or at school and sit properly, to distribute the weight in the backpack or get close to the fires of the kitchen

This morning they received their awards the fifteen winners of the third edition of Drawing Contest Campaign Grows in security, which the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, through the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and launched UCOMUR last October to promote work habits of responsibility among young people as future workers and entrepreneurs.

At the awards ceremony at the ceremonial hall of the Town Hall, attended by the Councillor for Education of the City of Cartagena, Joseph Marotta, director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Tomas Perez, and the center directors guardians and relatives of the winning school.

The school participated in a drawing contest in the second quarter of the school year, grows within the safety campaign, aimed at promoting safe behavior at an early age that developed since last October in the primary schools in the municipality of Cartagena .

In total, participated in the 1219 school year from 33 centers in the municipality, of which 125 works were selected for the drawing contest.

As explained by director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Tomas Perez, during the "Security Grows", a prevention professional gives presentations to teachers and students explaining what risks they are exposed at home, at school, or in the workplace.

Falls, burns, electrical hazards, cuts, or poisons, are avoidable if you know the steps to prevent them.

As explained by Thomas Perez, if this cove among children, when they enter the labor market, in addition to asking about salary and holidays, will be interested to know what risk do not work they will do.

The campaign has provided media and printed material for students to learn playing themselves recognize hazards and avoid them.

The drawing contest is the culmination of the campaign, where students embody what they see.

Among the participating works, stressed Joseph Marotta, have drawn the risks as well sit on desks, cross at zebra crossings, not to approach the fire in the kitchen, or compensate for the excess weight in their backpacks.

The winners will compete with the same work in a second regional phase, where they will compete with all boys and girls who have won the local phase of the drawing contest organized by each of the municipalities in the region.
