The Plenary of the Municipal Corporation met this morning, initially approved the amendment of the General Urban Plan, Railway Station, with votes for the municipal group popular and the PSOE, and the abstention of the Citizens' Movement.
The amendment, already approved Planning Information Commission, will increase the buildable initially agreed with ADIF, as it will increase from 46,000 meters as requested by the manager of the railway network in 2006 to the 63,000 it has set needed to finance the work of burying the last section of the line (from the bridge of Torreciega) and the construction of a new station with a capacity to accommodate the arrival in the city of high-speed trains (AVE).
In addition, after adopting the agenda and within the motions filed by the opposition, to one submitted by the Socialist group on the problems of traffic in Tentegorra Portús Avenue, the Town Planning, Joaquín Segado, has announced that it will to the next meeting of government, on Wednesday 22 December, a draft expropriation aimed at obtaining the necessary ground to widen the street, work starting as soon as possible.
This decision was taken in the absence of agreement with land owners on that street in order to widen the road.
At the last meeting of the year and before Christmas to congratulate all those attending the plenary, the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has been used to show the sympathy of the municipal corporation on the death of what was Councillor of the City, Josefina Campoy and as its most sincere congratulations to the Cartagena dancer José Carlos Martínez, for his recent appointment as director of the National Dance Company.
