The Civil Guard detained three people for the illegal capture of bluefin tuna species (04/11/2010)

Civil Guard officers have developed a series of investigations that have culminated in the arrest of three people suspected of crimes related to wildlife protection and theft

The suspects allegedly were involved in the removal of specimens of bluefin tuna farms located in the aquaculture sites of Murcia and Almeria.

Civil Guard began an investigation last month upon learning that a group of people could be engaging in illegal collection of specimens of bluefin tuna aquaculture sites, creating social unrest in the environment of this union.

The first investigations carried out were successful in obtaining the identity of three people who could be behind this curious kind of malfeasance.

He then established a device composed of monitoring and tracking logistical means getting to know employees by researchers and their habitual movements.

Modus operandi

People enjoyed investigated truthful information about the security surveillance schedules of aquaculture sites, thus avoiding detection.

Departing using two boats to the sea areas where farms were located bluefin, also called cages.

Once in the cages, the suspects used a special gear for this type of fish that caused the death in a short period of time then subtract fracturing the cage.

Still at sea, within the vessels and employing a great skill, performed the internal cleaning of the fish coming in to land with the specimen fully prepared for direct distribution.

As part of a tracking device the Civil Guard in Cartagena surprised people surveyed in the act moments after subtracting a bluefin tuna, proceeding to his arrest and brought to justice.

Detainee:

As part of this research has proceeded to the arrest of three people suspected of crimes related to wildlife protection and theft:

- Spanish, 25 years of age and resident of La Union.

-Spanish, 23 years of age and resident of La Union.

-Spanish, 30 years of age and resident of La Union.

The police had arrested and educated have been made available to the Magistrate's Court number four in Cartagena (Murcia), which has exercised the judicial direction of research.
