Salvage improves your ability to dive deep with a diving bell (19/10/2010)

Significantly increases the operational capacity of the diving operations in emergencies and safety for divers

Salvage operation held the first maritime exercise with her in Carthage 2010, to be held in late October with troops of the Navy

The Society of Maritime Safety Agency under the Ministry of Development through the Directorate General of Merchant Marine has a new diving bell which significantly improves the ability to work in diving and safety for the divers in rescue operations .

The diving bell can be moved to any point of Spanish territory to take part in submarine operations, although its maintenance base is located in Cartagena.

It is the only of its kind available in Spain and is used in diving operations at great depth by providing greater security and speed.

The advantages of its use in such operations are:

Increased safety of divers:

The decompression is performed inside the hood with what will be more accurate and comfortable for the diver.

It also allows to make diving in rough seas and swell that decompression can not be carried out without the bell by variations in depth.

There will be no possibility of coupling of the umbilicals to the propellers, not being required very long umbilical that may hinder movement.

Not made much effort the diver in case of strong currents (effect flag).

The diving bell divers provides hot water in his suit through an umbilical.

This will maintain body temperature suitable to work at great depths, and avoid the fatigue and cold conditions.

It also supplies the required breathing gas from a respiratory source close to the depth of work and provides the energy needed for the tools.

Quickly to the realization of dives.

One of the great advantages of using the diving bell is to be performed dives Salvage tugs, using the DP system (dynamic positioning), and without having to resort to complicated maneuvers to delay funding the operations, which not guarantee the position, with the consequent risk to the divers and staff housing payments are made through the umbilical system.

Conventional diving where the diver is immersed taking their own air supply on or provided through an umbilical is a valid method to certain depths.

The autonomous diver is limited in most countries at 50 meters and the umbilical from the surface diver with breathing gas mixtures, up to 90 meters, but without the advantages of safety and speed of use that makes this campaign.

Salvage has worked during these months in the adaptation of multipurpose vessel "Clara Campoamor" to operate with the bell, because it has dynamic positioning system that ensures that the ship set a position and does not move during underwater operations.

Also owned the three ships that will join the fleet soon Maritime Rescue and will be adapted to work with the diving bell.

Sar is the mast, which will operate in the south of the peninsula, the Gavia Sar covering the sea area of Galicia and Sar Mesana to intervene in the Levant.

Salvage operation held the first maritime diving bell in Exercise Carthage 2010 to be held the last week of October in Cartagena with troops of the Navy.
