Merchants and vendors question the desirability of a new market (08/10/2010)

The councilman of Commerce, Javier Herrero, has made clear the position of the City of Cartagena at the reports have emerged in recent days around the pretense of installing a new market of 500 positions Sunday in the Park Esplanade Mediterranean.

Herrero has seized on the ordinance of a reminder that the modification or creation of a market should be stipulated in the Sales Plan that the City Council approves end of the year and which is made favorable reports from the Chamber of Commerce, the COEC , peddlers Associations, Federation of Small and Medium merchants and neighborhood associations affected.

According to the councilman of Commerce, with respect to the particular installation of the aforementioned market, there has been no request at City Hall, although there is a collective petition to create a market, to which the associations and entities involved (House of Trade, COEC, vendors Associations, Federation of Small and Medium traders) said they did not see fit its implementation.

Still, if you decide to see logic one such initiative for the development of street trading, in particular, and the commercial sector, in general, the City Council would have no problem with allowing the installation of it, act on the basis of demands of traders.

The municipality operates 13 mobile sales markets and there are 9 of the season (Easter, Christmas and summer).

Javier Herrero are sufficient, since the vendors themselves complain that they sell more, a situation not improve launching another market, especially considering that there are markets with unfilled positions.
