Cs scandal that the agreement for the partial transfer of the prison announced by the Government has been denied (12/04/2018)

- Citizens has rescued from the minutes of the plenary session of January 24, 2017 the words of the then mayor, José López, in the debate of the motion to resume contacts for the transfer of the prison and give a sociocultural use presented by the PSOE and MC , "this mayor has already spoken with the owner, and I have a commitment that will give us the administrative part of the prison to social groups in the city"

The Municipal Group of Citizens today described as "scandalous and insulting" the little interest shown by the Government of Cartagena, both the previous one and the current one, to achieve a social use for the neighbors in part or in the totality of the penitentiary structures of the old San Antón prison.

The contempt of the Government of the PSOE and in its moment of MC, can materialize in the breach of diverse plenary agreements that looked for to protect the property and to find legal formulas to destine their spaces to sociocultural uses for the enjoyment of the neighbors.

In this sense, Manuel Padín recalled that "is pending for months to convene a negotiating table with the owner of the prison and with the participation of the neighborhood platform that defends its socio-cultural use to try to find an opportunity to acquire this historic property "

On the occasion of the information published today by the newspaper La Verdad in which it is claimed that according to the owners, "no one from the City Council has come to be interested in the purchase of the building, nor to propose possible partial assignments for public use or anything at all ", the orange training spokesman believes that" this is the proof of what we have been denouncing for years: the Government of Cartagena has allowed the San Antón Prison to pass into private hands despite the fact that its acquisition for the enjoyment of the neighbors was the star proposal of Mrs. Castejón in the municipal elections of 2015 and was in the program of the PSOE and MC "

Citizens has rescued from the minutes of the Plenary session on January 24, 2017 the words of the then mayor, José López, in the debate of the motion to resume contacts for the transfer of the prison and give a socio-cultural use presented by the PSOE and MC, "This mayor has already spoken with the owner, and I have a commitment that he will give us the administrative part of the prison to social groups in the city."

According to Manuel Padín, "therefore, if Perpetuo Socorro is telling the truth, the Government of Cartagena lied in plenary session when it asserted that they had already reached an agreement."

Everything else, the declarations and actions undertaken by MC and PSOE, such as seeking a hasty BIC, is just political make-up to hide the fact that they did not move a finger to acquire the old prison as they committed themselves in their respective electoral programs.

The spokesman of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, recalls that they had two long years to acquire the prison, "and now they come with excuses after the criticism of social groups, political parties, and neighbors, to save face, flee forward and try to minimize the damage to public opinion that leads to missing the given word ".

"Nor the Popular Party moved a finger, or wanted to acquire the prison in his day, arguing blithely in 2013 that it was not in his hand to be a property of the General State Administration.", Recalled Cs.

Padín recalled that the Municipal Citizens Group was the only political organization that was concerned in the ordinary plenary for the future of the San Antón jail before the deadline to bid for its purchase (published in the BOE) was closed, " and they told us, both MC and PSOE, that they were working to acquire it, but none of that was true.
