José López demands that the regional government return the two million scammed from the pockets of everyone with the improvised Cachá pipeline (03/04/2018)

This morning, twenty months after the general secretary of MC Cartagena, José López, at that time mayor, warned about the lack of documentation and authorization for the construction of the pipeline that diverted the water with nitrates from the Albujón ravine to the Mediterranean , it has been known that two of the main responsible of that work "of urgency", the former General Director of Water, Andrés Martínez, and the forestry technical engineer of the Office of Socioeconomic Impulse of the Environment, José Luis Manovel, are being investigated by the Court number 2 of Murcia.

On them fall possible crimes of prevarication and against the ordination of the territory.

The two will make a statement next week.

The works investigated, for the construction of a pipe that was never used, involved a regional investment of nearly two million euros and were executed, supposedly, without the necessary reports, despite affecting the protected space of the Marina del Carmolí, included in the Natura 2000 Network.

They were approved in record time in the summer of 2016 and would have as objective the derivation of the flows from the ravine of the Albujón to the network of the Regantes Arco Sur Community.

From there they would be discharged into the Mediterranean by the emissary of Cabo de Palos, after being treated in a desalobradora.

Given these facts, José López has expressed that the judicial investigation into the "improvised pipeline confirms our suspicions".

"They criticized us when I sent the Local Police to take the minutes and now it turns out that we were right," he continued.

Lopez has asserted that "the pipe to nowhere reached the court".

The leader of MC has warned about "three years of deceit to farmers and decades of contempt for the environment, this is how the policy of the PP on the Mar Menor is defined".

In relation to future actions, the general secretary of the Cartagena training has requested the apologies of those responsible, and "return the two million euros that were given to a company for nothing."

"From MC we will continue working on serious and legal alternatives to improve the Mar Menor and the natural environment, without deceiving farmers and without wasting resources that are scarce," he concluded.

Debugging of responsibilities

MC Cartagena expects the purification of responsibilities, also in its political sphere, in the figure of which in 2016 was responsible for the Environment, Adela Martínez Cachá.

It should respond to an action that has caused triple loss: to the pockets of the taxpayers;

to the environment, and a deception to society, in a more concrete way, to the agrarian sector.

The pipeline to nowhere was another of Cachá's irresponsible projects, an example of the incompetent councilors that Pedro Antonio Sánchez appointed.

Subsequently, Adela Martínez Cachá was relocated, as has happened with Noelia Arroyo, to other Minors' Ministries.
