Thousands of promises flood Cartagena to accompany La Piedad (27/03/2018)

La Piedad, as every year, dragged behind thousands of promises that accompanied her throughout the procession through the streets of Cartagena this Holy Monday, March 26.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was present at 9:00 p.m. at the Church of Santa María de Gracia to bid farewell to the Virgin, before she will depart in the procession of the Promises of the Blessed Virgin of La Piedad (Brotherhood Marraja).

The streets were filled to see the procession marraja along the entire route through the streets: Air, Canyon, Mayor, Plaza San Sebastian, Gates of Murcia, Santa Florentina, Park, Puerta de la Serreta Square, Serreta, Charity, Plaza del Risueño, Duque, San Ginés Square, San Francisco, Campos, San Miguel, Aire, Church of Santa María.

COURTSHIP

Hundreds of Nazarenes, mostly children, proceeded to procession along with the procession that was composed of: scripts of the Brotherhood;

group of accompaniment of the Shroud, female penitents of the Grouping of Our Father Jesus Nazarene, wearing galas with the different names that Jesus of Nazareth receives in the Gospels;

representation of the third and throne of the Holy Chalice, former "Car Horn";

grouping of Grenadiers, represent the former garrison soldiers in the square, of which there is evidence of their participation in the processions in the eighteenth century;

third and throne Insignia, subsidiary of the Association of the Blessed Virgin of Mercy;

third and throne of the Blessed Virgin of Mercy, whose image was made in 1925 by the sculptor José Capúz, carried on his shoulders by the Portapasos-Promesa Grouping of the Blessed Virgin of Mercy and closing the procession the promises.

PROCESSING OF THE TRANSFERS OF TUESDAY

The most military procession will leave this Tuesday, March 27, from three of the military estates of the city to which they are linked.

The three Apostles, San Pedro, San Juan and Santiago, will leave respectively the Military Arsenal (at 21:15 hours), the Artillery Park (at 20:00 hours) and the Military Government (at 20:00 hours). .

The three saints will be carried on their shoulders by their portapasos on thrones whose main characteristic is light, height and flower, called in Cartagena, 'Thrones of Cartagenero style'.

The meeting of the three processions will take place at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de San Sebastián, which will continue to procession through the streets Mayor, Cañón, Aire a Iglesia de Santa María de Gracia.
