The Civil Guard detained three people for the theft of more than 23 tons of agricultural material in Cartagena (26/03/2018)

Two of the arrested, employees of the aggrieved merchant, simulated robberies to remove the materials and sell them in waste management centers

It is estimated that the value of the stolen exceeds 200,000 euros, part of which has been recovered and returned to its owner

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the 'Plan against the abductions in agricultural and livestock farms', has completed the operation 'ROCHERO' with the arrest of three people, two of them related to the theft of agricultural material from a cartagenera company and a third with the reception of the products in a waste management center.

The operation began to investigate the complaint filed by a company in the agricultural sector of Cartagena, about a series of robberies committed in recent years, which had generated large economic losses estimated at more than 200,000 euros.

Members of the ROCA team (against theft in the field) of the Benemérita took charge of the investigation and gathered from the company itself information about the stolen materials: small and large-tonnage plastic containers, wooden pallets, cardboard boxes, delimiting irons of farms, as well as irrigation hoses and ribbons in rolls.

The investigations carried out by the investigators allowed to verify that two employees of the merchant were, presumably, after the illicit investigated.

Apparently, the suspects stole large quantities of objects at the merchant's farms and facilities, which they later sold at recycling centers or junkyards.

They moved stolen materials in trucks of the company

The investigation shows that, since the beginning of 2017 until now, they would have sold in recycling centers more than 23 tons of different materials that, in some cases, they moved in trucks of the damaged merchandise itself, while simulating the commission of robberies to divert attention.

Once all the necessary evidence has been obtained, during the exploitation phase of the operation, the Civil Guard has arrested the two suspects as alleged perpetrators of a continuous crime of theft.

During the development of this phase, the agents detected, in several recycling centers, sales of dubious origin of "big boxes" (plastic containers of great tonnage) in perfect state of use, hoses and ribbons in rolls, wooden pallets, as well as as delimiting irons of agricultural farms that, once identified, have been recovered and returned to their legitimate owners.

Operation 'ROCHERO' has ended with the arrest of a third party involved in the events as alleged perpetrator of the offense of reception.

This is the manager of a junkyard that, presumably and in collusion with the previous ones, received the agricultural material knowing that it acquired material of illicit origin.

The Spanish detainees, between 36 and 53 years of age and residents of Cartagena and La Union, the recovered effects and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Cartagena (Murcia).
