- "We have already transferred this inaction from the regional government to our regional deputies in the Assembly with the aim of promoting the project and clarifying what happens," said the orange training spokesman, Manuel Padín.

The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena has joined the claim made today by the Cantonal Party of Cartagena to resume the project to recover, protect and value the Salinas de Marchamalo.

On November 22, 2016, the Commission for Territorial Policy, Environment, Agriculture and Water of the Regional Assembly approved an initiative of Citizens in this regard.

The initiative of Citizens contemplated that a system be established to guarantee the realization of the tasks and tasks of the salinas, removal of the salt and water intake, by cession of the economic exploitation of the same or by any alternative means.

In addition, the orange training requested that the necessary measures be taken for the protection and recovery of the fauna and flora existing in the salt mines and their surroundings, as well as the pertinent measures for the reintroduction of the autochthonous species already disappeared.

The Citizens proposal also demanded a reform of the existing buildings and their use as auxiliary facilities of the area for educational, touristic, informative and research purposes in order to value the natural wealth of the area.

Once the proposal was approved, on January 2, 2017, the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment announced that it would promote a project for the industrial exploitation of the natural area and assured the newspaper La Verdad that it would propose to the owners of the signing of an agreement to resume the production of salt and that, as far as possible, we would bet on facilitating the self-financing of museographic activities and environmental dissemination.

"Since then, and as the PCAN reminds us today that it also called for actions to promote this unique enclave in February 2016, we know little or nothing, and I think the time has come to ask for explanations from the Community; transferred this inaction of the regional government to our regional deputies in the Assembly with the aim of promoting the project and clarifying what happens, "said Manuel Padin.
