The UP of Cartagena closes the School of Emotional Intelligence with the participation of 195 fathers and mothers and 1,350 students (13/02/2018)

The Popular University has completed the journey of the "Growing up" Project, which is part of the context of the School of Emotional Intelligence, which the Popular University of Cartagena promotes in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Murcia aimed at Associations of Fathers and Mothers of ten educational centers, which have been selected for their participation.

In this pioneering project in the Region of Murcia, and one of the few that take place in the national sphere, the Ampas of the following CEIPs have taken part: Antonio Ulloa, Atalaya, Azorín, HH San Isidoro and Santa Florentina, Mare Nostrum, San Fulgencio and Virginia Pérez, in addition to the concerted centers La Vaguada, San Juan Bosco and Santa Joaquina de Vedruna.

The Popular University has selected for this training experience municipal educational centers belonging to neighborhoods, councils and the city center.

This project "Growing up" has allowed 195 parents to get their training certificate, after 16 hours divided into 8 sessions held throughout the three months of the workshop.

It is oriented towards personal growth, revolving around four themes that were addressed in two sessions each: "Emotional Intelligence for Life: how to be assertive", "What are emotions for?", "Learning to solve conflicts" , "Learning to live the Today and the Now".

The councilman of Culture, David Martinez, has highlighted the extraordinary impact that this project has had in the associations of fathers and mothers, so that participants have requested to be taught a new workshop on Emotional Intelligence, Level II, to improve your personal, social and family well-being.

Both the Councilman, David Martinez and the Director of the Popular University, José Macián, have committed to strengthen the School of Emotional Intelligence for the next school year.

"Creciéndote" has been completed with the emotional intelligence workshops given to the 5th and 6th grade students of Primary Education of the mentioned centers, which end this Friday with 1,350 students participating.

These workshops were held in two sessions.

According to the councilman, David Martinez, they have obtained a remarkable success, favoring the self-esteem, the responsible attitude and facilitating the resolution of conflicts, so that for the next course the course will be extended in one more session for the students.
