Actuality and local politics, protagonists of the first semifinal of the Chirigotas Competition (08/02/2018)

El Batel Auditorium hosted on Wednesday, February 7, the beginning of the XVI Chirigotas Contest 'Ciudad de Cartagena' at 9:00 p.m.

The groups that performed in this first part of the contest were Los Febrero, Chirigota Del Soto, Chirigota de Caravaca, Chiriwoman, Chirigota de Cabezo de Torres, The Robinsons of the Island and Los Singuangos.

Between grotesque rhymes and a good dose of humor, the chirigoteros kept the audience entertained for more than four hours.

As every year, the participants chose topics of local politics and municipal news to focus the lyrics of their performances, although Catalonia with Carles Puigdemont and the independence movement also took center stage.

The second semifinal of this contest will be tonight, February 8, at 9:00 pm at the El Batel Auditorium.

Attendees can enjoy the performances of the Chirigotas The K We, Chirigota de Gador, Los Picoesquina, Los Sangochaos, Las que faltaban and Chirigota de Roquetas.

The selected ones of the semifinal that took place yesterday, February 7, together with those who enter the public in their pocket tonight, February 8, will go to the final of the contest, which will take place on February 9 with a pass to 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Those selected from both semifinals will meet this morning from 8 to 9 February, after the second semifinal.

The City Council of Cartagena will retransmit live the final pass at 11:30 p.m. through its YouTube channel.

A video signal will also be offered to the media that is interested in covering or retransmitting the event as well.
