Citizens register in the Assembly an initiative to achieve the opening of the 24-hour Hemodynamics service (07/02/2018)

- "The Community has to keep its word, when the promises have to do with the health of people, its fulfillment must be sacred," says the local spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín

The Parliamentary Group of Citizens today registered an initiative in the Regional Assembly to get the Hemodynamics service of the Health Area II to extend its schedule to be operational 24 hours a day.

The management of Health Area II came to say in October 2017 that it was "very interested" in extending the schedule to improve health care for patients with serious cardiovascular diseases in the municipalities of Cartagena, La Union, Fuente Alamo and Mazarrón.

"This interest has not translated into a restructuring of the service and is still closed in the evenings, on weekends and holidays," lamented the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín.

The orange training considers that the 24-hour opening of the hemodynamic unit in Cartagena is more than justified and will contribute to improve the care organization for the acute myocardial infarction care to a population of 270,000 inhabitants, plus the strong increases that occur in the summer months.

Citizens explained that "until now we did not believe it was necessary to get involved in this matter because we understood that the Ministry of Health was determined to do so, but since they promised it more than a year and a half ago, this service continues to operate in Santa Lucía Hospital Only in the mornings on weekdays and the inconvenient transfers to Arrixaca de Murcia have not been avoided, that is why we have been forced to go to our regional deputies. "

"Despite knowing that patients referred to the city of Murcia make the journey in an ambulance fully equipped to handle these cases, with high levels of safety and first-class health professionals, we also know that they would be better served at the Hospital de Santa Lucia, the Arrixaca would see their workload relieved and family members would not have to make such long journeys, "said Manuel Padín who says the Community has to keep his word," when the promises have to do with the health of people its fulfillment must be sacred. "
