MC Cartagena claims, as it did through a motion presented and approved in the plenary session of October 2016, that the regional government be involved economically and institutionally with the sports clubs of the Comarca, as it does with those of other municipalities.
Thus, the head of Sports MC, Ricardo Segado, has asserted that "the Autonomous Community continues to despise the sport that is not the city of Murcia."
The mayor has also pointed out that, while the clubs of Cartagena, such as football or basketball, "juggle to get a decent and competitive budgets," the city of Murcia and its City Council find easier to always achieve economic sustenance of the regional government.
In this sense, Segado has stressed that "in its day we demand this support and now we do it again with the pasotism of the CARM with the Cartagena clubs that represent both the city and the entire Region."
