Manuel Padín: "We are running out of patience with educational investments in Cartagena, we want the execution deadlines" (29/01/2018)

- "We are fed up with the breaches of this Government, that they take the hair of the people of Cartagena once we do not like it, but that they do it for three years is humiliating, and it supposes a budgetary swindle, for that reason we have asked our deputies in the Regional Assembly that this year press as never before from the first minute to start the Community execution deadlines for all pending educational investments, "said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín

The Ministry of Education is once again budgeting the same educational projects and investments for Cartagena for the third consecutive year that are, as La Verdad newspaper recalled today, the construction of the new school of La Aljorra, the expansion of the Integrated Vocational Training Center ( CIFP) Hespérides and the Ben Arabí Institute and the reform of the Lazareto building.

"We are fed up with the breaches of this Government and our patience runs out, they take the hair of the people of Cartagena once we do not like it, but to do it for three years is humiliating and a budget scam, and that is why we have asked our deputies in the Regional Assembly that this year press from the first minute to start the Community the deadlines for the execution of all outstanding educational investments, "said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín who says that his group wants" the commitment, the day and time, of each of the projects, especially those promised since 2016. "

"We have fulfilled our part, working the necessary amendments for Cartagena and its Region and supporting the regional accounts, but if they are not executed as it has been with the educational investments or the transfer of the Deposit Franco, our effort is of no use", informed Manuel Padín that "the stability provided by Ciudadanos is not free, but we do it in exchange for reforms, investments and democratic cleanliness, we have achieved historic milestones such as changing an unfair Electoral Law, the abolition of abusive taxes such as inheritance and donations, that leave the political office imputed by corruption, and we are also going to fight for the necessary, just, unpostponable investment in Cartagena ".

It is not the first time that the Municipal Citizens Group requests the help of its Parliamentary Group to urge the Ministry of Education to comply with what it promises, "in March 2017 we transferred to our colleagues in the Assembly the need to put pressure on the Advisor Adela Martínez-Cachá to commit to a date to start the expansion works of the Luis Vives School of El Albujón, which would have among its benefits the possibility of creating a library in compliance with the Royal Decree that establishes the minimum requirements of the centers that teach second cycle education in early childhood education, primary education, and secondary education ".

The Parliamentary Group registered in May 2017 an initiative where this demand was requested, but it has not been used to start the work so far.

In October 2017, Cs Cartagena brought to the Assembly the pending extension of the Los Molinos Institute in Barrio Peral, "the Ministry committed to draft the reform project in 2016, since in 2017 the works will be budgeted and started, but the reality is another and since January 2018 they are still studying the subject and the barracks that were to be provisional are still in the same place, and more and more students, who choose this center because of its proximity and its distinctive offer in English, are left out. "

On the other hand, Manuel Padín has also stated that "we will see if at least they comply with the expansion of the Ben Arabí Institute, but I fear the worst because it has been in contracting phase since October, and it is supposed that in November 2017 it would be to be put out to tender, we will also be very pending ".

As for the College of La Aljorra, the spokesman for Citizens has reported that is currently analyzing all the documentation of the process to determine the best way to unclog the situation and recalled the response of the Councilor for Education, David Martinez, to questions from Cs in the December Plenary: "in November the Ministry of Education gave its approval to the project, but asked the City Council to equip the land with the qualification of urbanizable as it is agricultural."

Martinez explained that the budget line for the adaptation of the plot would be the responsibility of the Department of Infrastructure and that "we all have to be aware that this is so."

For his part, Manuel Padín explained that his group proposed some alternative solutions to avoid the flooding of the old land, but finally, when buying a new plot, it was left aside, and asked the councilor of Education if the parents could witness the start of construction this term.

David Martinez answered: "I hope so."
