Cs will go to La Palma to check with the neighbors the proliferation of squatters in the area and propose solutions (24/01/2018)

- Orange training proposes to the City Council to urge the bank to initiate the procedure of possessory recovery as advised by the Ombudsman

Cartagena, Wednesday, January 24 -.

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padin, last week received the president of the La Palma Neighborhood Association, David Martin, to deal with the abandonment of the properties that are owned, apparently, by a banking entity and by the proliferation of squatters organized in several areas of this deputation Cartagena.

In the month of September of 2017, some neighbors presented a letter denouncing something similar and warning that in the streets Ebano and Antonio Serrano some houses were open, and in them the squatters were introduced.

Others look like a dump and in the opinion of neighbors, can be a "real nest of rats and infections."

Due to the inaction of the City Council, it has been the neighbors themselves who have had to close some of the buildings by their own means.

They also consider that it can be a network of organized squatters, and that they even rent irregularly these properties.

As denounced by the Ombudsman in other analogous situations, among the problems facing the neighbors of the 'squatters' are the problems of unhealthiness due to the accumulation of garbage, the deterioration of common elements as a consequence of vandalism , noise nuisance and even economic damage since the buildings have general meters in the lead for water and electricity supplies so the neighbors who reside legally must assume the total cost so they do not cut the service.

Faced with this situation, Ciudadanos believes that the City Council, in the face of banking indifference, should assess the possibility of urging the owner to initiate the repossession procedure, "this is something that we are studying to present at the next ordinary plenary session, but urgency of the situation, we will also request it through an internal letter to the relevant council ".

"It does not escape us that this situation is being experienced in other areas of the municipality such as Barrio Peral or Pozo Estrecho, and our initiative will take it into account," added Manuel Padín.

The residents of La Palma also demand that the cleaning and gardens service clean some areas.

Although they have not received an answer, the neighbors have asked for help not only from their Neighborhood Council but also from the Government delegation in the Region of Murcia.

On the other hand, a few days ago the Municipal Group of Citizens has learned that they have assaulted the civic center of La Palma and have stolen four air conditioners valued at 17,000 euros.

The spokesman of the orange training has announced that next Monday will visit the areas that are targeted by the squatters and that are supposedly abandoned by the City Council to try to propose solutions, "the neighbors feel insecure and unattended for a long time, the City Council You must do your part to put an end to these mafias that deal with empty flats, we must begin to show interest and make up for the problems they have endured, and we are not forgetting the wave of robberies that took place in the area in mid-November; we want to check on the spot how the moods are and if the level of vandalism has decreased since then, as well as check how the work goes to implement the investments of the participatory budgets ".
