Citizens pick up the concern of some residents of La Palma who denounce the proliferation of squatters in the area (20/01/2018)

- The orange training spokesman will visit the area soon to check these facts and try to provide solutions

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, today received the president of the Association of Neighbors of La Palma, David Martin, to deal with the abandonment of the properties that are owned, apparently, by a bank branch and by the proliferation of squatters in several areas of this deputation Cartagena.

In the month of September of 2017, some neighbors presented a letter denouncing something similar and noting that in Ebano street and in Antonio Serrano street some houses were open, and in them the squatters were introduced.

Others look like a dump and in the opinion of neighbors, can be a "real nest of rats and infections."

Due to the inaction of the City Council, it has been the neighbors themselves who have had to close some of the buildings by their own means.

They also consider that it can be a network of organized squatters, and that they even rent irregularly these properties.

The residents of La Palma also demand that the cleaning and gardens service clean some areas.

Although they have not received an answer, the neighbors have asked for help not only from their Neighborhood Council but also from the Government delegation in the Region of Murcia.

On the other hand, today the Municipal Group of Citizens has learned that they have assaulted the civic center of La Palma and have stolen four air conditioners valued at 17,000 euros.

The spokesman of the orange training has announced that he will soon visit the areas that are targeted by the squatters and that are supposedly abandoned by the City Council to try to propose solutions, "the neighbors feel insecure and unattended for a long time and we have to start show interest and compensate the problems they have endured, we also do not forget the wave of robberies that took place in the area in mid-November, we want to check on the spot how are the spirits and if the level of vandalism has decreased since then, as well as to verify how the works go to execute the investments of the participative budgets ".
