More than 1,000 students receive the finalist of the Mandarache Award Juan Carlos Mendez Guedez (17/01/2018)

More than 600 students received today the Venezuelan writer Juan Carlos Méndez Guédez, the first of the Mandarache Award finalists to visit Cartagena.

The author of El baile de Madame Kalalú will meet more than a thousand Cartagena readers between now and tomorrow, Thursday, January 18.

The first of these receptions took place at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena UPCT.

The councilor of the Area of ​​Education, Culture, Youth and Archaeological Heritage, David Martínez Noguera, has emphasized the increase of readers and reading committees this year in the Mandarache Prize and has been very satisfied in his first act as councilor in charge of Youth.

For his part, Juan Carlos Méndez Guédez has sent his thanks to Cartagena readers for hosting his novel so well.

The author, who has a long career as a novelist, essayist and poetic, has ensured that, as a writer, being able to meet with hundreds of readers is "like a dream", which is why he has been very happy and satisfied.

THE BOOK FAIR RETURNS

During this first meeting of the Mandarache 2018 Prize the councilor of the Area of ​​Education, Culture, Youth and Archaeological Heritage, David Martínez Noguera, has assured that the intention from his Council is to recover the Book Fair in Cartagena.

According to Martinez Noguera soon will begin to work to get this event back to the city, at the latest, next year.
