The Garcia Otón family has donated free of charge to the city of Cartagena the deed of a thousand square meters located in the town council of La Aljorra.
The act of signing the transfer took place this Tuesday, January 16, in the council room of the Consistorial Palace, with the presence of the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón and representatives of the García Otón family.
Ana Belén Castejón thanked "the generous and selfless donation" by the García Otón family, which she described as "the best exhibition of the human quality of the people of our land."
Castejón explained that the City Council welcomed the news of the cession of the bass of a thousand square meters and valued at more than 189,000 euros, as a surprising news because, "it is not usual the generosity shown by this family."
Regarding the use that will be given to the space the mayor has commented, before the media, that the Government will study to give the best possible use and will be used to cover possible deficiencies or needs of the residents of La Aljorra.
A decision that "is not yet taken" and that according to the mayor said "will be agreed with the people of the town."
The representatives of the family, present in the act of transfer before a notary, have stated that the use is not important, as long as it is for the benefit of the residents of La Aljorra and the family is remembered.
The Otto Garcia have said that it was the will of the family to remain in the collective memory the figure of one of the brothers, Salvador García Otón, person who was already paid tribute, giving a street in La Aljorra his name, ( precisely in the place where the place is located).
