National and international award to professor emeritus Artés Calero for his contributions to post-harvest technologies (15/12/2017)

The profitable and extensive career and academic career of Professor Emeritus of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Francisco Artés Calero has been distinguished with awards from the Ibero-American Association of Post-Harvest Technology and the Association of Conservers and Food Companies (AGRUPAL).

"I am very grateful for these distinctions, which recognize the luck and success I have had over the years in surrounding myself with a great team, in whose name I collect these awards, which would not have been possible without a great collective work," he assured. the winner when the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, collected the AGRUPAL award, which distinguishes, among other contributions to the sector, his management for the creation in Murcia of a National Technological Center for Food and Conserve during his time as adviser of Economy and Industry and first president of the Institute of Development.

"In my academic work, I must also thank the support I have always had from the UPCT Rector's Team, my colleagues in the Food Engineering Department and my Post-Collection and Refrigeration group," added Artés Calero.

Also this month has been awarded the agri-food researcher in Chile, during the IX Congress held by the Ibero-American Association of Post-Harvest Technology, of which Artés Calero was co-founder and president for a few years.

"We have a very close relationship with many researchers from all of America and Europe, which makes it easier for foreign doctoral students to come to the TAIDA program every year, as the current president of the Association, the professor from the University of Chile Víctor Escalona, ​​who He spent seven years training and investigating with us, "says Professor Emeritus.

Artés Calero, awarded for his "invaluable contribution to the development of the specialty", gave during this Congress the closing conference, on design and innovation in lines of minimum processing hortofrutícola.
