Cartagena plant face gender violence (27/11/2017)

On Saturday, November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was commemorated.

With this motive, the city of Cartagena was filled with acts of protest in order to raise awareness among citizens about this scourge and condemn all types of aggression against women.

The Plaza de San Sebastián hosted one of the first acts of the day, with the celebration of a community circle, in which through the rhythm of drums, the power of the group was worked with music.

This activity, aimed at all audiences, entitled 'Let the power of the drums put the spark again in your life' had the participation of the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the delegate councilor of Equality, David Martinez, the Councilor for Sustainable Development and Transparency, María José Soler, the Councilor for Finance, Isabel García, and the councilors of the opposition groups Manuel Padín, Ana Rama, Pilar Marcos and Teresa Rodríguez, among others.

In the afternoon, Plataforma 8 de Marzo convened a concentration at the Plaza del Icue where a manifesto was read and there was a performance.

In this act they took part the delegated councilor of Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martín of the Love, and the mayor of Equality, David Martinez.

The Regional Assembly was not alien to this date and in the courtyard of the building there was an institutional act in memory and homage to the victims of gender violence, in which flowers and candles were placed on a great bond.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, participated in this initiative together with the president of the Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, the delegate councilor of Equality, David Martínez, the councilor for Sustainable Development and Transparency, María José Soler, the councilor for the Treasury , Isabel García, and councilors of the opposition groups such as Ana Rama.

As in previous years, the Palace Hall was illuminated throughout the weekend the color that represents the fight against gender violence.

They also installed two canvases that read: "Cartagena against Violence Macho", one in the Administrative Building of the City, located on San Miguel Street, and the other in the building of La Milagrosa, which houses the Department of Equality.

The city was also flooded with vinyl of the campaign 'Do not cheat.
