Cs demands a meeting with ADIF to achieve the inclusion of Cartagena in the Corridor and avoid neighborhood protests (24/11/2017)

- "We know that there are already neighborhood movements to protest the arrival on the surface of the train, and the placement of an acoustic wall, and do not want Cartagena what has happened and happens in the neighboring city of Murcia, we are in time to make things well, "said the orange training spokesman, Manuel Padín.

- "We have to put an end to this indifference of the Government of Spain with the main industrial pole of the Region, with a fruit and vegetable sector of the first magnitude and with one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean, Cartagena must be a priority for the Ministry of Development" , says Manuel Padín.

Cartagena, Friday, November 24-.

Citizens still waiting for the response of the Government of Cartagena to its request on October 16 urging the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belen Castejon, to convene an extraordinary Spokesperson Board that includes representatives of the public entity Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (Adif) to analyze and assess the arrival of High Speed and its connection with the Mediterranean Corridor to Cartagena.

With the publication in the Official State Gazette of the environmental impact analysis of the information study for the Murcia-Cartagena connection by high speed, we have known that the AVE will force to place 3.4 kilometers of acoustic screens of 3.5 meters high together to 226 homes located in Cartagena, Torre Pacheco and Murcia.

This has caused the rejection both of the councilor for Sustainable Development, María José Soler, and of some neighbors from the Estación Sector, and Barrio Peral, who do not rule out protests, as the Municipal Citizens Group has learned after a recent meeting with them.

"We know that there are already neighborhood movements concerned about the arrival on the surface of the train, and the placement of an acoustic wall, and do not want Cartagena what has happened and happens in the neighboring city of Murcia, we are in time to do things well, and that is why we believe that it is essential that all municipal groups and neighborhood groups can sit down at a table with the people in charge of Adif so that we can analyze how the high speed will reach Cartagena, and propose the necessary modifications ", explained the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, who today attended the opening of the 'XV Conference for business leaders of the Comarca de Cartagena' of COEC, in the auditorium of the Port Authority.

Manuel Padín, recalled that he is not asking anything strange, "on September 27 the spokesmen of the opposition in the City of Murcia had the opportunity to sit at a table with representatives of Adif, who could ask for explanations and clarifications before the doubts raised in relation to the arrival of the AVE to Murcia, and we believe that the spokespersons of Partido Popular, Podemos and Ciudadanos in the City of Cartagena deserve no less ".

"As we have not received any response, for a month and a half, to the letter sent to the Mayor, we have decided to register a motion and we hope to have the support of all, or at least the rest of the opposition parties that, as we know, make up the plenary majority, "said the local spokesman for Cs.

Given the uncertainty with the deadlines for execution and the measures contemplated in the information study, the Citizens Group also believes that an emergency meeting of the Cartagena High Speed Society is justified, "we are in time to monitor and request the modification of some of the decisions of the project if necessary, contemplating other options, such as that provided by our municipal technicians, that the train arrived underground, or in a trench provisionally, that is, below the level of the terrain, in any case, we still have no budget , and without date and that is the main objective ".

"We are convinced that we have much to contribute in these decisions, and it is striking the little information that is being given not only to the opposition groups, but to all the citizens of Cartagena who know little or nothing about how and when it will arrive. the AVE to the municipality, we deserve to know more, and I hope that the mayor will collect this proposal with generosity and make possible that extraordinary Spokesperson Meeting ", concluded Manuel Padín.

Baipas de Beniel and Mediterranean Corridor

The spokesman for Citizens has indicated that despite the announcement of the tender for the drafting of the project for Benipa's bypass, "we will still have to wait about a year for it to be designed, and another one for the start of the works, for what this group will push to shorten the deadlines. "

"On the other hand, this Group is committed to increase its pressure so that the General Budgets of 2018 include a specific budget line for the construction of the Mediterranean Corridor between Murcia and Cartagena, which would also reach the AVE," he said. the orange spokesman who affirms that his objective is "to reach the guarantee that the works of the route to Cartagena will begin in 2018, with the necessary budget and with dates for the completion of the project".

Padín recalled that a few months ago "the national coordinator of the Mediterranean Corridor, Juan Barios, presented in Cartagena a draft of the project in which both Murcia and Lorca had an estimated date (2018 and 2023 respectively), while Cartagena had none, "This indifference with the main industrial pole of the Region, with a fruit and vegetable sector of the first magnitude and with one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean is unacceptable;

Cartagena must be a priority for the Ministry of Development, "says Manuel Padín.
