The Municipal Neighborhood Boards will have an increase of 15% in their 2018 budget (17/11/2017)

The councilor of the area of ​​Sustainable Development, María José Soler (MC), and the responsible mayor of the Treasury, Isabel García (MC), over the last few days, are holding meetings with all the presidents of the twelve Neighborhood Boards Municipalities of Cartagena.

The reason for them, held in the administrative building of San Miguel, has been to involve these neighborhood representatives in the definition of the General Budget of the City Council next year, in a new evidence of promoting neighborhood participation in public management.

Thus, the dialogue between the members of the local government and the Neighborhood Councils has concluded with the definition of priorities and future lines of action that result in common benefits.

The appointments have also served so that, in view of the demands presented, the councilor of the Treasury is committed, in the face of the preparation of the municipal budget of 2018, to increase the items allocated to the activity of the Boards in an average of one year. 15% approximately.

It is a decision adopted to facilitate that these decision forums can complete, effectively and completely, their needs and areas of competence.

Expansion of the spending limit

In the same way, they have been informed of the intention to include, in the next Local Government Board, a proposal to increase the spending authorization of each president of the Neighborhood Board for the purpose of executing small actions and gaining speed.

Currently, this limit is set at 1,000 euros.

This measure will not prevent the responsible from having to account for the expenditure before the Plenary of its management body, knowing all its members the final destination of each amount.

Coordination between areas

Finally, the exchange of impressions held during the last few days has advised to continue increasing an effective coordinated action between the areas involved: Finance, Sustainable Development and Decentralization.

The objective is to perfect the design, execution and monitoring process of the projects, from a spirit of self-evaluation and constant improvement.

In addition, periodic meetings will be held between the aforementioned areas to review the status of budget execution.
