Cartagena will celebrate the elimination of violence against women to the rhythm of drums (15/11/2017)

On the occasion of the celebration, on November 25, of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Department of Equality has organized a campaign to create social awareness: 'Do not cheat.

And you who see it ... Why are you shut up?

The activity, of this campaign, that will have more visibility in the street will be the celebration of a community circle, in which through the rhythm of drums, the power of the group will work with the music.

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Cartagena, David Martinez has been commissioned to present this campaign today, November 15, at the Palace Hall.

The mayor has been accompanied by the coordinator of the Department of Equality, M. José Mercader and the pharmaceutical and vocal in Cartagena of the Official Association of Pharmacists of the Region of Murcia, Elena Saquero.

Precisely the collaboration of the college of pharmacists will be essential for the twenty thousand brochures, information and activities, are distributed in the ninety-eight pharmacies of the municipality of Cartagena, thanks also to the distribution of Hefame.

As the Councilor for Equality has stated, gender violence is a theme for everyone and everyone.

"It's a serious social problem.

We have to be clear that violence against women is any action or behavior that causes physical, sexual, psychological damage or suffering to women on the part of man, both in the public and private sphere. "

In this regard, the mayor has said that the latest studies among young people, conducted by the Department of Equality of Cartagena, it is stated that youth refers to gender violence only to explicitly violent behavior.

"Aspects such as monitoring the mobile, controlling the partner or jealousy, do not include it within the violence, unless we ask it explicitly.

When they allude to gender violence they are referring to assaulting or insulting ", for this and other reasons the councilor said that they work from the Department that directs," with different programs to promote equality, prevention and awareness against sexist violence , trying to start from education with activities in schools and institutes ".

The mayor, David Martínez, has used the occasion to communicate that they have prepared a motion that will lead to the next plenary session, so that the Local Administration, assume as its own competencies the Public Policies of Equality and against Gender Violence, with the support of the Council of Equality, the feminist movements and all the social agents, such and "as it indicates the approved thing in the 'Pact of state against the violence', with respect to the Town halls and the function that must play.

And it is also essential, the fulfillment of the economic commitment agreed in the aforementioned Pact ".

ACTIVITIES

The activities started today, Wednesday November 15, with the opening of the exhibition of photos 'Chicas nuevas 24 h.'

in the exhibition hall of the Faculty of Business Sciences (CIM).

The rest of the day will be carried out workshops and the screening of the film 'Fly'.

The program continues with workshops, documentaries and other events that will take place between November 22 and 25.

Since the Department has been invited, on Saturday 25, to the 'Act of Social Awareness against Gender Violence' which will be from 11:30 in the Plaza de San Sebastián.

The activity will consist of creating a community circle and through the rhythm, working with the music the power of the group.

It is an activity aimed at all audiences, entitled: 'Let the power of the drums put the spark again in your life'.

As in previous years, the Consistorial Palace will be illuminated on November 24, 25 and 26.

Two tarpaulins will also be installed in which you can read 'Cartagena against Violence Macho', one in the Administrative Building of the City, located on San Miguel Street and the other in the building of the Miraculous, which houses the Department of Equality.

The city will also be flooded with campaign vinyls, between this week and next week.
