The Cofradia of San Gines de La Jara opens web page (15/11/2017)

The Brotherhood of San Ginés de La Jara has launched its website.

After the jump to social networks, from the entity that honors the figure of the patron of Cartagena has decided to go further and launch a comprehensive website in which you can find all kinds of materials related to society and the figure of the saint.

Councilor for Sustainable Development and Transparency, María José Soler, presented the virtual space on Wednesday with the brother of the Brotherhood, Víctor Navarro, the chaplain of the same, Lázaro Gomariz, and the creator of the page, Francisco Malvastre.

This website was born from a dinner of brother friends who planned to activate this initiative in a symbolic year for the entity, in which the saint has been proclaimed once again patron of Cartagena and perpetual mayor, when they celebrate 340 years of their ancient patronage and one hundred years since the refoundation of the Brotherhood in the old Cathedral, although the beginnings of the cult of San Ginés took place between the 15th and 16th centuries.

The page includes in its colors the 'red Cartagena' and the shield of the city, in reference to the patronage of the saint of the port city.

In it users can find photographs, videos, audio, manuscripts, the hymn of San Ginés (march and letter), news, the history of the Brotherhood, the life of the saint, an explanation of the monastery and the pilgrimage, documentation of everything type or related websites, among many other multimedia resources.

The virtual space also grants a relevant importance to the Literary Fair, recently recovered, and there is also the latest news on the main page.

There is also a blog hosted on the website and a section where you can register in the Brotherhood through the Internet.

It should be noted that all documents are in PDF format and are downloadable.

María José Soler stressed that the site "goes far beyond knowing the hagiography of the saint and the history of the Brotherhood."

For her "it is a way to improve and proclaim the cult of San Ginés".

"I think it's a fantastic initiative to take advantage of the means we have right now to value the cult of San Ginés," said the mayor, who stressed that the web "names and faces" people who are or have been part of the entity as well as town criers, people who have received some distinction or the Board of Directors of the same.

According to Soler, "delves into one of the tasks that this fraternity has proposed", which is to "enhance" the culture and continue with the customs of the city.

Víctor Navarro pointed out that the protagonist "is not the Brotherhood but also San Ginés de La Jara" and explained that they proposed to launch this online platform at such an important moment in which they are internationalizing with the Literary Fair, with a winner Cuban, and with profiles on Facebook and Twitter.

His goal, he said, is to open the saint's knowledge to Cartagena and open up to the world.

For the chaplain of the Brotherhood, this is a way to reach people who would not normally arrive in an "almost universal" way, because "with internet you can reach almost everywhere".

Lázaro Gomariz pointed out that the primary mission of the Brotherhood is to make San Ginés known both in the city itself and outside, so this "attractive" website is a "channel" for it.

"Ginés de La Jara was a holy apostle of charity, and charity is the greatest of the virtues," said Gomariz.
