Schoolchildren in the municipality approach science in El Batel (14/11/2017)

This Monday the Science and Energy Week began in the Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel, which until Friday will bring students from the third year of Primary and Bachiller and Vocational Training of the municipality to concepts such as energy efficiency, development sustainable and care for the environment in a didactic and fun way.

The delegate councilor of Education, David Martinez, has visited this space to see how the second day of this event organized by the Repsol Foundation with the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the Department that he directs.

There he was accompanied by the Deputy Director of People and Organization of Repsol Cartagena, Luis Roque, and the educator responsible for the coordination of the workshops, Lara Gracia.

Together they made a tour of the different workshops and spaces in which some 770 children from schools San Felix, Miguel de Cervantes, Beethoven, Gabriela Mistral, Carmelitas, Fernando Garrido (Canteras), Azorín (Mills Marfagones), Stella Maris, Vicente Ros, Poet Antonio Oliver, Leonardo Da Vinci (The Belones) and for those who will spend until the end of the week some 4,000 students in total.

It should be remembered that the Department of Education was involved in the project in order to disseminate among all schools in the municipality the possibility of being able to participate in this educational event in which children and youth can enjoy the workshops 'Exploradores del petróleo' , 'Transporting CO2', 'The puzzle of the circular economy', the game 'The race of the energy mix' and the show 'Science a la Grande', which includes very surprising experiments, as well as the exhibition 'Repsol y la energy ', which is the Marc Márquez motorcycle of last season.

The mayor of Education has indicated that this Week of Science and Energy "is having great success" and that it is expected that each day about 700 students pass through the workshops, which he described as "very entertaining to bring the youngest children science and renewable energies "as well as" how to care for the environment ".

Martinez stressed how important it is "that children are already aware of all these things, which are very important."

Luis Roque has stressed that the objective of this initiative is to "raise awareness and educate" children "both for what is energy and the importance of being efficient in the management of it."

He has also indicated that bringing science closer to children seeks to "also raise awareness of the importance of these professions in society", since these are highly demanded engineering at a professional level.

According to the Deputy Director of People and Organization of Repsol Cartagena, "the sensations are very positive", since the teachers have conveyed a high satisfaction.

The educator responsible for the coordination of the workshops explained that what is attempted in this event is that they learn "small concepts" such as "energy" and "energy efficiency" to "sound like a future".

Lara Gracia has qualified that it is about "learning to have fun".
