Antonio Oliver Belmas International Poetry Prize fails on Monday in Cartagena (10/11/2017)

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, will present next Monday, November 13 at 12.00, in the reception hall of the Palace of Cartagena, the failure of the Antonio Oliver Belmás International Poetry Prize 2017, which reaches its thirty-first edition.

The act will open with the performance of the piece 'Ombra Mai Fu' (GF Haendel) by the soprano Amber Kay, accompanied by the violinist Alejandro Nicolás and the cellist Alberto Gómez, and will close with the performance of 'Laudate Dominum' ( WA Mozart).

The jury of this prestigious international prize is made up of renowned poets, such as Blanca Andreu Fernández-Albalat, a poet who in 1980 won the Adonis Poetry Prize;

Eloy Sánchez Rosillo, who in 1977 obtained the Adonis Poetry Prize;

Luis Alberto de Cuenca y Prado, member of the Royal Academy of History and winner of the 2015 National Poetry Prize;

Manuel Ramírez Giménez, writer and editor of Pre-texts;

Vicente Gallego Barrado, winner of the 2001 Loewe Poetry Prize and the 18th International Poetry Generation Award of the 27th obtained in 2015, and José Macián Montesinos, director of the Popular University of Cartagena, who will act as secretary.

For this edition of the Prize a total of 102 works have been presented, coming from different parts of the country, as well as from other cities in Europe and Latin America, and there is even a work coming from a country so far from our culture as Japan.

"One of the main characteristics of this award is that all poets who wish to participate can compete, regardless of their nationality, as long as their works are written in Spanish.

The poems must have a maximum of 1,500 verses and a minimum of 700, being totally free both its form and its content, "recalled David Martinez.

The Prize for the best work presented, always in the opinion of the jury, is endowed with 5,000 euros and the prize-winning work will be published by the Editorial Pre-Textos, which will be responsible for publicizing and publicizing it.

The City Council of Cartagena, as expressed by the mayor Ana Belén Castejón in the recently published Anthology, recognizes her meritorious career and shows all her support to strengthen the international projection of this award.
