The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has met, urgently, at noon today, November 6, with the groups that work with immigrants to see what measures have to be adopted and thus prevent the situation from happening again last Friday, in which a group of immigrants who arrived in a boat to our shores was left without accommodation.

Today's meeting has agreed on a road map and a protocol to further enhance coordination between the municipal government and the groups involved.

In this way, Castejón has stated that "we have agreed a roadmap between us so that if the protocol established in these cases is not activated, we will take care to remember the places we have in Cartagena at all times to properly attend to these people".

Although he also wanted to make it clear that "we are not going to assume competences that are not ours, I want to make that clear, although we are not going to look the other way when the problem resides in our territory."

The mayor recalled the great network of groups and NGOs that Cartagena has in terms of hosting refugees and for anyone who is going through a difficult situation, "And that makes us say loud and clear to all administrations, including the Delegation of the Government, that Cartagena is a cozy municipality, since it has a powerful infrastructure and with enough places to have given an exceptional response to an exceptional situation.

Ana Belén Castejón has also met today and has met with the spokespersons of the municipal groups to inform them of the meeting she has had with the groups that work with immigrants and everything that happened.
