Cs will ask for explanations from the Ministry before the allegations of irregularities in the ambulance service (31/10/2017)

- "Although all these complaints have been transferred to the Ministry of Health, to date they have not been given an answer, and therefore, in addition to presenting a written question to the counselor, as we have already done, We are going to call a meeting between these workers and the union with our Parliamentary Group in the Regional Assembly to analyze all the documentation and give an answer to clarify what is happening with such a sensitive issue that affects not only the workplace but also the environment and the health of all, "said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín.

Cartagena, Tuesday October 31-.

The Municipal Group of Citizens has received in its dependencies of the Consistorial Palace the general secretary of the General Confederation of the Work Región Murciana (CGT), Julián Cuevas, and a member of the Company Committee of Ambulances Martínez, Juan Carlos Rosique.

This is the second meeting that the orange training spokesman has with these workers and union representatives who have been denouncing for several years irregularities of two companies, managed by the same owner, who transport patients from public health, among other things, for not respecting the weekly and daily rest of the workers, for the absence of a record of overtime, for not complying with the sanitary technical prescriptions of the specifications, the rules of the Collective Agreement, the hygienic-sanitary regulations and for Social Security fraud.

Despite the fact that the Labor Inspectorate has opened several times a disciplinary action against these companies, Urgencias y Emergencias, SL and Ambulancias Martínez, SL, where it has been certified that the weekly and daily rest is not respected, that there is a lack of control in the registration of overtime contravening this way the state collective agreement, and there are repeated delays in the payment of wages, the company has not corrected this nonsense, as noted by the secretary of CGT, which warns that it has "forced workers to carry out exhausting working days with shifts of up to 26 hours that clearly violate the current legislation ".

Nor would it be complying with the rules of health and hygiene at work and in terms of the prevention of occupational risks.

Regarding the maintenance and washing of ambulances, the union denounces that the hygienic-sanitary criteria established for the prevention and control of diseases are not met;

According to them, the specific products are not being used for cleaning or disinfecting the interior of the cabin, nor are the regulated safety material provided such as masks, rubber safety gloves, waterproof boots, with the consequent risk of contracting diseases. such as HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, among other contagious diseases.

On the other hand, ambulance cleaning is carried out without taking adequate measures to contain and purify wastewater;

the union warns that the vehicle, due to the nature of the transport it carries out, contains biological remains with possible viruses and pathogens and that by not purifying the water from cleaning the ambulance and going to the public sewer, there is a risk of infection to the population.

CGT considers that this environmental contamination is avoidable if the appropriate protocols are complied with.

On the other hand, one of the obligations arising from the execution of the contract that is violated is point 14.4 which states that the fleet of vehicles assigned to the Murcian Health Service (SMS) is exclusively for SMS, for what can not be used in any service for another client.

And according to the workers, the vehicles are also being used for private services.

Given all this problem, the Parliamentary Group of Citizens has registered a written question to the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, in which he is asked to clarify what measures have been taken by the Murcian Health Service to solve the incidents produced in the public service of ambulances of the companies Urgencias y Emergencias, SL and Ambulancias Martínez, SL, which have open disciplinary proceedings by the Labor Inspectorate notified by official letter of 1/25/17 and that fail to comply with section VIII of the Technical Specifications of the contract of ambulances in points 1 and 5, to ensure the optimal public service Ambulance of the Region of Murcia and thus meet their responsibility.

"Although all these complaints have been transferred to the Ministry of Health, today they have not been given an answer, and therefore, in addition to presenting a written question to the counselor, as we have already done, we are going to convene a meeting between these workers and the union with our Parliamentary Group in the Regional Assembly to analyze all the documentation and give an answer to clarify what is happening with such a sensitive issue that affects not only the workplace but also the environment and the health of all ", said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, who has clarified that he will also request a meeting with the owners of the company and with the rest of the unions with representation in the Works Committee to know their position.
