- The national deputies of Citizens, José Luis Martínez and Miguel Garaulet, have asked for explanations about irregularities and non-compliance with environmental regulations by the Community in the waste management of the Jenny raft, and for the pollution in the Cartagena de la Diputación de Llano del Beal

Cartagena, Wednesday, October 18.

Citizen MPs in the Congress of Deputies, José Luis Martínez and Miguel Garaulet, have asked for explanations in the national Parliament about irregularities and non-compliance with environmental regulations by the Community in the waste management of the Jenny raft, and the pollution in the cartagenera county of Llano del Beal.

As reported by the daily La Verdad on October 10, a report from the Attorney General, sent to the Court of Instruction number 4 of Cartagena, attacks against the regional administration for the very high risks, both for the health of people and for the environment that resulted from the abandonment of the regional PP Government in terms of the management of the toxic waste that was received by the Jenny raft in Llano del Beal and suggests that former high officials in the Community will have to answer for their decisions and inactions.

It was in 2014 when the Court of Instruction number 4 of Cartagena reported that it had found evidence of an ecological crime, due to alleged irregularities in the transfer of the remains to the old mine cut, Los Blancos I, in El Sabinar, kept in that area uncovered and unsealed.

The findings of the Attorney General's report ensure that the Los Blancos I deposit should have been considered to be very high risk and with high priority for action as set out in the European directive 2006/21 / EC. the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Environment, then headed by Antonio Cerdá, to have systematically breached the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of the project.

The members of the orange formation have registered a battery of questions addressed to the central government to know if at any time has been aware of all these irregularities and inactions and non-compliance, why no action has been taken, what measures are intended to implement from now on, and whether they will be debugging responsibilities as a result of these irregularities.

On the other hand, the Court of Instruction 4 of Cartagena has also requested to open an investigation on heavy metal contamination in the public school of El Llano del Beal, due to "the presence of metallic saline outcrops inside the recreation facilities of said school".

The Government of Spain will also have to answer on this question at the request of the national deputies of Citizens.

For his part, the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, thanked the work and pressure of his party at the national level, "those who are fortunate to have an influential presence in the Regional Assembly, or in the Congress of the Deputies, we can do much to resolve what affects us, but also to demand that responsibilities be debugged. "

Manuel Padín, recalled that a few months ago, together with the regional deputies, Juan Jose Molina and Luis Fernandez, visited the Llano del Beal, "and we verified in situ the situation of the rafts, the state of San Ginés de la Jara and we picked up the concern of the neighbors, we also took good note of all the needs that this council has, not only environmental, but also economic and social, and we are already working to design a Strategic Plan in the medium and long term in which to collect actions in the field of tourism, employment, education and infrastructure, together with the other political formations in the Assembly "
