- The Citizen spokesperson in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has undertaken to bring the demands of this Association to its Parliamentary Group and to study, along with the other political groups represented in the City Council, the support to the motion proposal that they have "In principle, it seems to us a very sensible and necessary demand for a sector that has much to say and contribute to our society, we are talking about prevention plans for school bullying, investigation and implementation of actions to help social reintegration post- analysis of behaviors that lead to political corruption, among many other fields of action, and I think we are not able to take advantage of all this interdisciplinary knowledge. "

Cartagena, Tuesday, October 10.

The Municipal Group of Citizens received today in its premises from the Consistorial Palace to the Association Criminology and Society (CyC) that has undertaken for a time to be part of a round of meetings with various social and political actors in the Region to promote their demand for to create a Professional College of Criminology.

The president of CyC, Ginés Sánchez, and the secretary and founder of this Association, Nicolás Toledo, have delivered to the local spokesperson of the orange formation a motion for the Cartagena City Council to express their interest, support and request for the creation of the College Professional of Criminology of the Region of Murcia.

The representatives of CyC explained during the meeting that "in the Community there are 42 professional colleges, and that the creation of theirs will be a great advance for the professional development of criminologists", and recalled that the communities of Asturias, Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia already have a College of Criminology. "On the other hand, have reported the results of a survey conducted earlier this year in which 98.7 percent of criminologists and students considered it necessary that this school , and have reported that they are drawing up a census to identify graduates in this sector in the Community and that at the moment they are counting 205.

The representatives of this association have explained some of the reasons why they consider the creation of this body to be of public interest.

On the one hand, and despite having acquired the quality of official studies, today some entities continue to provide training in Criminology that has nothing to do with the official title, which, according to this association, creates unfair competition, and it undermines the profession.

On the other hand, CyC believes that the labor situation of criminologists is still very difficult today as they consider that they are not covered by regulation and legal recognition.

According to Ginés Sánchez, "we are in a kind of professional limbo and we have no one to represent us, defend us and promote regulation (professional secrecy, code of ethics, protection of sensitive information ...) and the creation of jobs work for criminologists. "

In the opinion of this association, "all this has the consequence that our professional figure is seriously harmed, so it is of great importance the creation of a professional college that is entitled to mediate between the Government and the Administration, and for carry out all actions related to the workplace and improve career opportunities ".

The knowledge provided by training in Criminology includes the treatment and evaluation of inmates in prisons, the development of crime prevention and victim assistance plans, the analysis of data indicative of the different antisocial behaviors in a territory, the study and application of actions that reduce risks, among others.

On the other hand, the Citizen spokesman in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has undertaken to take the demands of this Association to its Parliamentary Group and to study, along with the other political groups with representation in the City Council, the support to the proposal of motion that they have made, "in principle seems a very sensible and necessary demand for a sector that has much to say and contribute to our society, we are talking about plans to prevent bullying, research and implementation of actions to help the reintegration social analysis, conduct analysis that leads to political corruption, among many other fields of action, and I think we are not able to take advantage of all this interdisciplinary knowledge.
