The Urbanization Mediterraneo awarded its Silver Carabela Awards 2017 (09/10/2017)

The Neighborhood Association of Urbanization Mediterraneo delivered on Friday, October 6, their Carabela Silver awards, with which the neighborhood recognizes the work of personalities and groups both in the neighborhood itself and in Cartagena.

An event that was attended by the mayor in office, Juan Pedro Torralba, the Councilor for Finance, Isabel Garcia, the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín and the Councilor for Sustainable Development, María José Soler, who presented the awards.

The evening began with the performance of the Association of Friends of the Zarzuela.

The first prize of the night was the Local Police, Antonio López Asensio, who has received various awards in the Corps and currently works in the Environment and Quality of Life unit.

The National Police inspector, Andrés Hernández, who has been in the service of his body for 38 years, received many awards and distinctions in the various cities of Spain. has served until returning in 2004 to Cartagena.

In third place was the turn of the group of catechists of the parish of Our Lady of Hope on the 40th anniversary of its founding, who were recognized for their effort in a taréa that began in the neighborhood when there was not even a parish, having to celebrate catechesis in the homes of catechists.

The Association of Neighbors also wanted to recognize the work of Astus-Prolam, on the 50th anniversary of its foundation, for its work with people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy and their families and for their work to integrate these people into society so that they can have a life as standardized as possible.

Finally, the cardiologist, Javier Martínez, "one of the cardiologists with the most future of our country" was rewarded with this award, as presented by the President of the AVV, Sebastián García, who has developed his work both in Spain and the United States. He is currently Director Responsible for the Cardiology Department of La Vega Hospital in Murcia.

The president had after the awards ceremony a word of thanks for the Government Team of the City of Cartagena, both for its presence and for the next asphalt of the main streets of the neighborhood, and used to make some claims to improve other infrastructure that require maintenance work.

He concluded his speech with a few trophies of Joaquín Sánchez the "Palmesano", dedicated to each of the honorees.

For his part, the acting mayor congratulated the AVV for his work "which shows that the neighborhood movement is very much alive", and wanted to recognize the well done work done in the neighborhood with the promotion of cultural and leisure activities such as the Silver Carabela Prize "double laudable" as it dynamizes the activity of the neighborhood and serves to recognize the work of other groups and people in the neighborhood for their good work.

The ceremony concluded in the same way that it began, with the performance of the Association of Friends of the Zarzuela.
