The acting mayor achieves the commitment of the Minister of Development that will have budget in 2018 for the Mediterranean Corridor to Cartagena (04/10/2017)

The acting mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba, managed yesterday that the Minister of Development, Iñigo de la Serna, promised that next year, 2018, there will be a budget line for the section of the Mediterranean Corridor that will reach Cartagena.

"This is good news, but not enough, since it did not specify deadlines or economic amounts, so we will continue fighting until we have a firm proposal, with a fixed budget. The Mediterranean Corridor is a priority for our municipality and we are not going to cease our claims until it is a reality, "said Torralba.

The acting mayor of Cartagena, who was the only mayor of the region who participated in the meeting held yesterday in Madrid to claim this infrastructure, along with the president of the Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), Pedro Pablo Hernandez, obtained the support of the highest representatives of the Spanish business sector, among them Juan Rosell, president of the CEOE, to speed up the execution of the works until Cartagena.

Also, Juan Pedro Torralba demanded the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, with the support of Pedro Pablo Hernández, to comply with the word given at the Assembly of COEC, in which he promised that the machines were working in the line of Cartagena in 2018. "The president reiterated his commitment and I hope he keeps his word," said Juan Pedro Torralba.

The mayor took advantage of this meeting to consolidate the alliance with Valencia and Andalusia to claim the construction of this infrastructure.

In fact, the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, promised to visit Cartagena to participate in the business meeting promoted by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.

Finally, Juan Pedro Torralba announced that a campaign of dissemination will be promoted with the aim of making citizens aware of the importance of the connection between Cartagena and the Mediterranean Corridor, for which the City Council will count on the support of COEC and CROEM .
