Cartagena is Fair during the month of October (03/10/2017)

From the Areas of Economic Strategy, Culture and Equality, Quality of Life, Archaeological Patrimony, Sports and Youth, the City Council has chosen the month of October to organize the already traditional fairs with which it is intended to make known and bring the citizenship, the work of groups and associations of the municipality.

Under the motto "In October, Cartagena is Feria", today the program of fairs that will start this weekend, on 6, 7 and 8 October, with the Fair of Women's Associations, whose details has explained the Councilor for Equality, David Martinez Noguera.

The purpose of this type of event, according to the mayor, is to boost the associative fabric and encourage communication and exchange of experiences among women, creating common spaces, which has allowed the number of women's associations to grow, today they are already 70.

During these three days, workshops of all kinds will take place and, for the first time, there will be children's activities to share with family and reach women of all ages.

This event will be followed by the VIII Fair Outlet 2017, which increases the number of days this year, from October 10 to 17, and will have 55 stands (eight more than in 2016), including articles of all kinds, from clothing and accessories, even footwear or sports, with very low prices.

In this case the objective is to stimulate the small Cartagena trade.

The opening hours for the public will be from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 22.00 hours.

The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, announced the details of the IX Feria de Mayores, Femadis 2017, on October 20, 21 and 22, after the Outlet fair.

Both public and private institutions will participate, as well as associations of Seniors and Disability that will show their services and resources aimed at improving the quality of life of these groups.

Thus, among the participating companies there will be day centers, home help companies and family respite, or hearing centers.

The 42 clubs that are included in the Federation of Associations of Older People, will also meet in this meeting, showing some of them in their stands folk traditions, representing old trades such as bolillo and esparto, as well as offerings of Carnival , dance, live workshops or storytelling, as well as the taste of gastronomy in Cartagena, Martin explained.

Until Monday 9 October, the deadline to participate in the fair will be opened, which will open on Friday the 20th with performances of rondallas and shows of typical costumes.

October will be closed with the celebration of the Youth Associations Meeting, on Saturday 28, and the Juvenile Handicraft Market, on Sunday 29, events both presented by Youth Councilor Ricardo Segado.

The meeting on Saturday is to publicize and disseminate the work of youth groups in the city, while the market will offer for sale objects made by the youth themselves, whose ages range from 14 to 35 years, so that what they collect can be allocated to the maintenance of the association itself, said the mayor.

The handmade market, in which you can buy bags, clothes, paintings, jewelry and other articles of your own, will remain open from 9.00 to 20.00 hours, uninterrupted.
