Mobility Space participates in the national meeting celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Erasmus + Youth in Action in Murcia (29/09/2017)

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the 'Erasmus + Youth in Action' program, a national meeting is taking place this Thursday and Friday, 28 and 29 September, in which technicians from the Mobility Space of the Youth Space of the Youth Department of the City Council of Cartagena together with the directors of Youth of different autonomous communities, youth technicians, representatives of youth organizations and beneficiaries of the program 'Erasmus + Youth in Action'.

The meeting, which is being developed in the Region of Murcia, has been organized by the Spanish National Agency and the General Directorate of Youth.

'Erasmus +' is a program of the European Union for Education, Training, Youth and Sport that provides support to young people in the field of non-formal and informal education with the aim of promoting dialogue, improving skills, the international dimension of youth activities or to promote the participation of young people in the democratic life of Europe and in the labor market.

The purpose of this meeting is to reflect on the achievements of 'Erasmus +' over the years and share the stories and experiences of young people who have participated in a project, giving a special role to the personal experiences of the participants.

About 28,000 young people from the Region of Murcia have benefited from the program during these 30 years and one hundred youth organizations from the Region have participated in the Erasmus + program, among which is the Youth Department of Cartagena.

93.7% of the participants in the program in Spain are satisfied with their experience, and believe that they have been able to improve many of their skills, among them linguistic skills, employability or participation possibilities.

During the days of the meeting, talks, colloquia and meetings will be held to reflect on the development of the program, strengthen networking, detect new needs and be able to design training strategies and future cooperation.

30 YEARS OF THE 'ERASMUS +' PROGRAM

The original program began in 1987 as an exchange program that offered university students the opportunity to learn and enrich themselves by studying abroad.

Over the last 30 years it has expanded its scope and scope.

Today, 'Erasmus +' offers a greater number of opportunities for both individuals and organizations, such as volunteering or apprentice to foreign countries and cooperating on joint projects.

In addition, sport has also become an important part and the program is currently extended to countries outside the European Union.

In fact, since the launch of the 'Erasmus +' program in 2014, two million people from all walks of life have benefited from the opportunities it offers, such as study periods, internships or volunteering, gaining experience abroad.

And over the past 30 years a total of five million people have participated.

As part of this meeting, between 2017 and 2020, 'Erasmus +' will provide opportunities for more than two million people across Europe and the rest of the world.
